Brewery Sales Forecasting: Revenue per BBL

Revenue per barrel (BBL) is a simple and effective way to forecast brewery sales.

Below are two examples of how to do this in your taproom and wholesale business.

Taproom Example

  • 2024 $600,000 sales div by 500 BBLs sold = $1200 Rev/BBL
  • 2025 +10% price increase to $1320/BBL
  • 2025 volume forecast/trend +0%, 500 BBLs
  • 2025 Rev forecast = 500 BBLs x $1320/BBL = $660,000

Wholesale Example

  • 2024 $300,000 sales div by 1000 BBLs sold = $300 Rev/BBL
  • 2025 +5% price increase to $315/BBL
  • 2025 forecast/trend +5%, 1050 BBLs
  • 2025 Rev forecast = 1050 BBLs x $315/BBL = $330,750
