The breweries that consistently grow wholesale sales don’t rely on luck or the next great beer release. They follow a repeatable process that aligns their products, customer needs, sales activities, and goals.
I call this a Wholesale Sales Operating System.
It starts with one question: Where are we trying to grow?
Before chasing another account, take a step back and build a strategy.
Ask questions like:
- Which markets offer the greatest opportunity?
- Which accounts are the best fit for our brands?
- Which products should we focus on?
- Where can we grow deeper before expanding wider?
- How will we measure success?
One of my favorite sayings from the beer business is:
- Are we selling more products to existing customers?
- Or are we selling our existing products to new customers?
Nearly every wholesale growth strategy falls into one of those categories. Once you understand where your greatest opportunity lies, your sales efforts become much more focused.
The goal isn’t to pursue every opportunity, it’s to pursue the right opportunities That’s the difference between being busy and building a business that grows consistently.
We’ll discuss how to identify the accounts with the greatest growth potential, measure the activities that actually drive sales, strengthen retailer relationships, and create a weekly rhythm that keeps your team focused on the right priorities.
Because wholesale growth shouldn’t feel random. It should be a system.
P.S. Next week we’ll explore why the fastest path to wholesale growth isn’t always opening more accounts. Sometimes the biggest opportunity is selling more beer to the customers you already have.
